Combined Course for Aspiring Headteachers
Course Overview
More Courses
The two 2014/15 leadership programmes CASH (Course for Aspiring Headteachers) and HEAT (Headship Early Thinking) have been combined into a single programme following uncertainty among potential delegates as to which of the two courses will best suit their needs.
The combined course will serve the interests of a wide range of senior leaders. It will be useful for deputies who are seriously considering headship, some of whom may be already actively applying whilst others may be one or two steps away.
It will be equally useful to more newly appointed deputies and assistant heads who need to start thinking about their future career moves perhaps five years ahead.
CASH and HEAT ran very successfully in Sefton for three years, and produced 18 heads and many more senior leaders before funding was cut four years ago.
The new combined course has been revived for 2014/15 by Holy Rosary Teaching School Alliance.
The programme is not phase-specific and would be equally valuable to senior/experienced middle leaders in Nursery, Primary, Secondary and Special.
The programme is supported by a course pack and each session will be introduced in advance by an emailed introductory paper.
All sessions will be supported by a course folder and introductory papers will be emailed in advance of each session.
The programme will be facilitated by Dave Atkin, former secondary head, inspector, and Sefton LA Adviser who designed and led the original leadership programmes of which CASH and HEAT formed a part.
Each session will involve either serving headteachers or LA officers providing up-to-the-minute experience, comment, opinion and advice.
There is no homework and participants will be invited to reflect upon their experiences to date, actively participate in the sessions and identify possible areas for future development.
The costs of the programme are being largely met by the Teaching School.
Schools are asked to pay a single one-off registration fee of £50 per delegate to cover additional costs including refreshments. Payment will be arranged via Journal Transfer.
All sessions will be at the Professional Development Centre (PDC), Formby, and will run in twilight time from 4pm till 5.30pm with arrival from 3.30pm.
Course Facilitator: Dave Atkin
